Being beaten to a pulp?

Life aint a piece of cake. It’s not a breeze or a smooth car ride, its a battle. There’s turbulence, there are storms and there are quite a few unwanted bugs splattered across the window shield. That is life. How we react to it, is who we are, no two people are the same but let me tell you one thing that those two people, and everyone else for that matter have in common……….we need a time out.
Life gruels us, grills us and grinds us raw. It beats us to a pulp and barely lets us recover before treating us to round two. OK yes, I’m being a tad dramatic =P But close enough right? In order to keep our sanity we need a refuge. A quiet place away from the hustle bustle of everyday life. To unwind and to evaluate the situations and predicaments we find ourselves in. My refuge used to be an upstairs bedroom. May seem odd, but the thing was, no one in my family ever went upstairs. It was perfect, I could stay there for hours on end and just be free to do as my heart so desired. Music cranked up loud, and sitting in weird poses, doing art etc. But that doesn’t have to be your special spot, heck it doesn’t even have to be a place. It could be a hobby or a pastime that leaves you feeling fresh. A stroll through the park, a bit of painting, trying out a new recipe, watching a comedy with a bunch of good snacks at hand it’s your pick! What matters is that you realize the importance of this habit, and reap its rewards.
So there is my advice to you, stay happy and spread your happiness. Though you can’t make people truly happy, or truly help them if you yourself are twisted in knots, confused and conflicted. Take time out for yourself, it’s not selfish, it’s not a desire. It is a need, not a want. So that YOU and only you are the driver of your own life, not some drunken mess who resembles you, but you and all that entails.

  1. Great advice Aamna. A “cave” to hide away in where you can be whoever or whatever you want to be. Either playing games or reading books. Or even plying make up.

    This is a magnificent piece
